For All Your Life was a tour de force.” —New York Times

Part informational film and part sales pitch, Leslie Cuyjet’s For All Your Life takes aim at the life insurance industry and its connection to the transatlantic slave trade. The show opens with an ironic art film in which the artist plays a suite of glossy corporate shills tasked with selling viewers a “one-of-a-kind investment opportunity.” As she moves from on-screen projection to in-person stage presence, the conceit’s facade begins to crack. Combining powerful choreography with theatrical satire, Cuyjet offers a biting critique of capitalism and society’s valuation of Black life.
